Haradwaith

In J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, Haradwaith is a region south of Gondor and Mordor. The name is taken from the people who lived there, and literally means 'South-folk', from the Sindarin 'harad', 'south' and 'gwaith', 'people'. It may also simply be referred to as Harad.

Aragorn's brief description of Haradwaith (Book II, ch. 2) - "Harad where the stars are strange" suggests the existence of a southern hemisphere, and therefore that Middle-Earth is a globe by the time of The Lord of the Rings and not flat as described in The Silmarillion.
