Hatakeyama Yoshitsugu

Hatakeyama Yoshitsugu (1552-1585) Hatakeyama Yoshitsugu, the son of Hatakeyama Yoshikuni. Yoshitsugu was very hard pressed by that of Date Masamune, and during the year of 1585, Masamune's father, Terumune interceded and made peace between Yoshitsugu and Masamune. However, when Yoshitsugu met Terumune, he took him hostage holding him at sword point. It is not known if Yoshitsugu planned this dramatic act beforehand. When Masamune heard of this, he rode very strongly after Yoshitsugu's men. In the end, Terumune and Yoshitsugu, along with all of his men were killed.

Many other's think that Yoshitsugu really survived, and fled back to the Nihonmatsu Castle. Following Masamune attacking the Nihonmatsu, and the Hatakeyama submitting to Masamune. However, Yoshitsugu's head was forfeited, and his head was exposed to all.
