Hataki komi

The Japanese phrase "hataki komi" is a term for a specific tactic in Sumo wrestling used by a sumo who is at a disadvantage. The term has the figurative meaning that victory does not always go to the more powerful. This Japanese term, like so many others, has been made familiar in the US through entertainment productions. Hataki Komi was illustrated and explained in the 2005 movie, "Memoirs of a Geisha."
