Håvik

The little village of Håvik, is in the county of Selje, Sogn og Fjordane in Norway. Selje is in the western part of Norway.

Håvik has approximatly 35 inhabitans. Håvik has high mountain at one side and the fjord of Nordpollen right in front of the little village. Neighbouring villages are Nordpollen, Vengen and Vederhus. The closest store is at Flatraket, approximatly 4 km drive against the larger city of Måløy in the county of Vågsøy.

Håvik is an old name and comes from the high mountains "behind" the village, "hå" is an old Norwegian word for high, "vik" means bay, Håvik is beautiful placed in a bay.

At the mountains of Håvik it is a cave with visible sights of early living, a handcrafted cup of stone are found and delivered to the Historic Museum of Bergen back in the seventies.

In earlier days, the people in Håvik, make the way of living like many other villages at the Norwegian Coast, by a combination of fishing and farming.

Today all there is no farming activities and the inhabitans has jobs around in the bigger places nearby.
