Health food store
Encyclopedia : H : HE : HEA : Health food store
A health food store is a type of grocery store that primarily sells natural or organic foods, and often nutritional supplements.
They typically cater to vegetarians and vegans, some choosing not to sell meat products at all, while others sell free-range meat or other meats considered to be more humane or ecologically sound.
Most also carry a variety of foods for people with special diets, such as diabetics, and those with wheat allergies.
Many health food stores are cooperatives, member-based organizations in which the members staff and share ownership in the store.
Whole Foods Market is a large chain of health food stores in the United States.
