Heatherdale is a railway station on the Lilydale and Belgrave railway lines. The station is 23 km from Flinders Street Station and is in Metcard Zones 2+3 overlap.

The station is a Host Station, meaning that it is staffed during morning peak hours. Heatherdale is popular with commuters despite being only a host station because it is the last station on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines to be covered by Zone 2 ticketing. The buildings are only very basic being built in the 1960s and 1970s with cost saving gummint pebble-mix.

Station Redevelopment

As part of the EastLink tolled freeway project, Heatherdale station along with three others along the freeway will be upgraded. The works are being funded by ConnectEast. Upgrades to Heatherdale Station will include extra parking spaces, upgraded lighting and security measures, a new pedestrian crossing at Heatherdale Road and building refurbishments. A construction contract is expected to be awarded in late 2006.
