Hellion is a fictional character, a mutant in the Marvel Universe, a member of the student body at the Xavier Institute, and a member of the Hellions squad therein. His real name is Julian Keller, and he first appeared in New Mutants (volume 2) #2.
Character biography
Born to wealthy parents in California, Hellion has quickly adopted an attitude of superiority while training at the Xavier Institute that has annoyed some of his classmates. A fast favorite of headmistress Emma Frost, who sees in him great potential for heroism as well as a frightening disposition for personal gain and villainy, Julian named himself 'Hellion' in tribute to the former White Queen's first class of students (who had been killed by Trevor Fitzroy). Hellion has demonstrated quite a significant interest in Sofia Mantega, the half-Venezuelan co-leader of the rival New Mutants squad. He is particularly hard on David Alleyne, the New Mutants' other leader, whom he views as possessing a particularly useless mutant power and as a genuine competitor as a leader and strategist. However, for the school dance, he dated all three Stepford Cuckoos.During the Hellions miniseries, Julian's wish was to be known as a hero.
In the aftermath of M-Day, the previous squad system has been abandoned due to the diminished number of powered students. Those left have been place simply in the New X-Men team. As previous leader of the Hellions, Hellion felt he was a shoo-in for field leader and was stunned when Surge was announced as leader of the new team.
Powers
Hellion is a telekinetic. He is able to fly at subsonic speeds, create telekinetic force barriers and manipulate objects from a distance. Although strong, his powers are not comparable to Psylocke or Jean Grey (pre-Phoenix), and unlike Jean Grey, Hellion does not possess telepathy in addition to his telekinetic abilities. He also has some training in martial arts/self defense.Alternate versions
During the House of M crossover, Hellion was a Junior S.H.I.E.L.D. operative going under the codename Scion. He was involved with the New Mutant known as Wind DancerExternal links
