Herman Boone

Herman Boone was a former football coach at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Virginia.

Herman Boone, the coach on which the movie Remember the Titans was based, was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on October 28, 1935. Boone graduated from Booker T. Washington High School (later re-named Rocky Mount Senior High School) in 1954. He coached high school football in Virginia and North Carolina. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which is a game between high school All-American seniors from the East and West side of the country, has its MVP award named after him. Boone who is part Cherokee Indian has also participated in coaching at a Native American version of the game.
