Hi Honey, I'm Home!

Encyclopedia : H : HI : HIH : Hi Honey, I'm Home!

Hi Honey, I'm Home! was a television sitcom that ran from 1991 to 1992 for 13 episodes.

It's the story of the Nielsens, a 1950s sitcom family who were in the "Sitcom Relocation Program". It was advertised as the first instant rerun, because it aired on ABC's TGIF comedy block on Friday nights and then on Nick at Nite the following week (though Season 2 - episodes 7-13 -- only aired on Nick).

The family name refers to the Nielsen Ratings system.

Seven years later, Pleasantville used the reverse of this show's plot, where 1990s teenagers were transplanted in to a 1950s sitcomesque world although Pleasantville was not as blatantly about the rerun sitcom genre.

The family had a special remote control called the Turnerizer, which allowed the family to switch between color and black/white. In black and white mode, the entire house and everyone in it from the sitcom changed to monochrome. Other characters remained in color. The Turnerizer makes fun of Ted Turner, who colorized old movies for his networks.

Hi Honey, I'm Home was taped at Nickelodeon Studios in Universal Studios Florida.
