High net worth individual

High net worth individual (or HNWI) is a term used in private banking to describe an individual with a high net worth. Typically these individuals have investable assets (financial assets not including first piece of real estate) of $1 million.
UHNWI refers to Ultra High Net Worth Individuals who have at least $30 million in investable assets. Most global banks have a separate Business Unit for these (U)HNWI who are treated in a way similar to institutionals.
