Hisatsune Sakomizu

Encyclopedia : H : HI : HIS : Hisatsune Sakomizu

Hisatsune Sakomizu was the chief Cabinet secretary of Japan in 1945. He was ordered by Prime Minister Suzuki to analyze the economic condition of Japan and give a written report to Suzuki. What Sakomizu found was that Japan's resources were rapidly decreasing, and that Japan would not be able to continue fighting in World War II for much longer. This report is commonly used as opposition to the United States' decision to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
