Hisham's Palace

Hisham's Palace is an archaeological site located 5 km north of Jericho on the West Bank. The palace was built in CE 743 by Al-Walid ibn Yazid and owed its name to his uncle, the Umayyad caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik, who ruled an empire stretching from India to the Pyrenees.
