Hispano-Suiza 8

The Hispano-Suiza 8 was a water-cooled V8 aero engine introduced by Hispano-Suiza in 1914 and used by a number of Allied fighter aircraft during the First World War. The original Hispano-Suiza 8a was rated at 150 hp (112 kW) and the later Hispano-Suiza 8Be reached 220 hp (164 kW).
The Hispano-Suiza 8a was built under licence by Wolseley in Britain as the Viper and by Wright-Martin in the United States as the "Model E".
The Hispano-Suiza 8 powered the S.E.5 (8a and Viper), the SPAD S.VII (8a) and the SPAD S.XIII (8Be).
