Hokuriku region

Hokuriku region (北陸地方, literally North Land) is the region along the Sea of Japan within the Chubu region, the central region of Honshu, the main island of Japan.

The variously defined region includes the prefectures of Toyama, Ishikawa and Fukui, and may include Niigata Prefecture as well. In the former case, Niigata Prefecture and Nagano Prefecture form the Shinetsu region and together with Hokuriku region comprise Hoku-shin'etsu (literally North Shin'etsu).
