Holden Racing Team
Encyclopedia : H : HO : HOL : Holden Racing Team
The Holden Racing Team was established in 1989, just after TWR Group and General Motors Holden had formed to make Holden Special Vehicles. These two companies thought that the next step was to a team that would compete under the HSV name. The companies employed Perkins Engineering to make the cars that would be raced under the HSV name. The following year (1991) the team competed in the Bathurst 1000, with manager Win Percy and driver Alan Grice racing for them. They won that year's event, and finished runner-up at the next event.
The newly formed V8 Supercars series started in 1993, which gave the HRT team enough time to rebuild their cars and get ready for the battle with the other Ford teams competiting in the competition.
