The Home Ministry (内務省 naimushō) managed the internal affairs of Japan from its founding in 1873, during the Meiji Restoration, to its dissolution during the occupation period in 1947.

Its role was then taken over by the Ministry of Home Affairs (自治省 jijishō), now the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
