Homeostatic model assessment
Encyclopedia : H : HO : HOM : Homeostatic model assessment
The homeostatic model assessment (HOMA) is a method used to quantify insulin resistance. It was first described by Matthews et al in 1985.
Derivation
Using a fasting blood sample, it is derived by use of the insulin-glucose product, divided by a constant:
- Glucose (mg/dL)) x Insulin (µU/mL) / 405
