History
- April 141926: Station begins operation as Hon-Shiogama Station. (本塩釜駅)
- May 11944: Station is nationalized and changes its kanji to the traditional form of Shiogama, although the name Hon-Shiogama Station remains. (本竈釜駅)
- May 251963: Station changes kanji back to original. (本塩釜駅)
- November 11981: The station is moved to its present location and a double elevated track station.
- April 11987: With the commercialization of Japan National Railways, it becomes a JR East station.
