Hornbacher'sis a supermarket chain that has approximately 5 stores in the Fargo and West Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota. Hornbacher's is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based Supervalu Inc.
History
Hornbacher's was founded by Ted Hornbacher's and his partner Jim Custer opened the moorehead supervalu store at the corner of Eighth an Main avenue in Moorhead 1951.Which was the start what is to be known as Hornbacher's Foods. In 1956 they opened the Northport store in 1958 they relocated the moorehead store to to a new larger facility on the east side of Eleventh and main. In 1974 they opened the Village West Store opened across the street from North Dakota’s first regional shopping center. On 1975 Hornbacher's was acquired by supervalu Inc. In the 1990 the express store became part of Hornbacher's. 1994 they opened the Southgate store.

Hornbacher's sponsors an annual week-long Cherries for Charity event that benefits the local Rape and Crisis Abuse Center in the Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota areas. For every pound of cherries sold during the event, Hornbacher's donates 15 cents, which has amounted to more than $75,000 over the years.
