Huíla is a province of Angola. It has an area of 75,002 km2 and a population of approximately 700,000. Lubango is the capital of the province. It was the location of much of the fighting in the Angolan civil war. The town of Jamba in the province was the home base for Jonas Savimbi's UNITA and the host of the "Democratic International" or "Jamba Jamboree", a meeting of right-wing insurgents put on by United States conservative lobbyists Jack Abramoff and Jack Wheeler and funded by Lewis Lehrman in 1985.
