Hurum is located on the southern part of Hurumhalvøya, which is the peninsula between Oslofjord and Drammensfjord. The administration place is Klokkarstua, while the most populous villages are Tofte and Sætre.
Hurum was once suggested as location for the new national airport of Norway. The plan was however abandoned, and the main airport is now situated at Gardermoen in Akershus county.
