Hyagrivar

Encyclopedia : H : HY : HYA : Hyagrivar

Hindu God responsible for education and qualification apart from knowledge of the Vedas.

In Mythology he is said to have retrieved the Vedas from Madhu and Kytdhaba, two [[Asura|asuras] who had stolen the Vedas and hid in the oceans.

He is also considered an incarnation or avatar of Vishnu.

Interpretation:

The two bodies of Madhu and Kytdhaba disintegrated into 2 times 6 — which is twelve pieces (two heads, two torsos, four arms and four legs). These are considered to represent the twelve seismic plates of the Earth.
