"I'm Your Angel" is a duet by R. Kelly and Celine Dion. It spent six weeks at number one in the United States from December 5, 1998 to January 9, 1999.

Chart performance

Its debut on the Billboard Hot 100 is one of the most bizarre events in music history, and chart historians still disagree on whether to give the song merit as debuting on the chart at number one or counting its chart "test run". Prior to December 1998, airplay-only tracks could not debut on the Hot 100. Billboard changed its charts policy in that month, but the week in which the Hot 100 debuted with its new rules, the "Last Week" and "2 Weeks Ago" position columns shown in the print edition represented rankings that were attributed to test charts not previously published. This was done to properly display the upward or downward movement of tracks based on new chart criteria.

When the Hot 100 was published on the issue dated December 5 1998, it appeared as if "I'm Your Angel" had vaulted from forty-six to one (as the song had climbed to number forty-six on "test charts" because of airplay points alone, before a single release allowed sales information to be factored into its chart position).
