IBTL

IBTL is a common Initialism representing "In Before The Lock" used on Internet message boards. This statement is a reference to an inflammatory or off-topic discussion which will soon be "locked" by a board moderator. A thread that is locked can no longer be replied to, thus ending the discussion. It can also be "IBL+1" denoting the first post on such a thread, and so on.
Many message boards have variations of this, some changing the last letter to reflect that of a moderator who commonly locks threads that get out of hand.
