The Integrity Check Value (ICV) is a checksum that allows an information technology system to detecting changes or errors in data. It is often part of the error-checking process. This normally involves the HMAC (Hash Message Authentication Code) algorithm and the MD5 (Message Digest 5) or SHA-1 hash functions.
