ICall

Encyclopedia : I : IC : ICA : ICall

iCall is the name of a peer-to-peer VoIP network and of a proprietary freeware soft phone for that network.

Unlike its competitor network Skype, iCall is based on open standards, the Session Initiation Protocol. However, like Skype, the iCall client is closed source.

iCall also has features that Skype and other competitors lack, or offer at an additional fee. Free voicemail, free SIP to PSTN connections (only free for calls to the USA and Canada), and the previously mentioned interoperability are the main advantages that iCall has over Skype.
