Russian Programme

This programme was started in 2002 when the Public Service Department (JPA) began to sponsor students to study medicine in Russia. In the following year, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) began sponsoring the selected students from MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) under the scheme called Excellent Students Scheme (Skim Pelajar Cemerlang/SPC). Students sponsered under this scheme have the privileges of studying in this programme almost 4 months early before the admission of students sponsored by the Public Service Department (JPA), Kerajaan Negeri Selangor and other agencies into INTEC. Since the programme started in 2002, the head of programme is still Madam Penelope Jayaram who is also teaching English Language and Russian History in this programme. However, as she is about to retire, it is learnt that Dr Yamin, the programme's faithful chemistry lecturer, will be her next successor as a Core Person.

Students here focus on learning the Russian Language besides other subjects such as Physics, Biology/Anatomy, Chemistry, English, Russian History and Islamic Studies. Every year, lecturers are specially flown from Russia to teach the Russian Languange and Anatomy. The length of the course varies according to the month of intake: January-September ( 8 months ) and June-September ( 3 months ).

This programme does not offer the old way of teaching method, but there are various types of activities that are held throughout the year to let the students explore themselves the life and culture of Russia, such as small concerts held at the Russian Cultural Centre in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur and various other excursions.

The four institutions to where the students will be admitted in Russia after finishing their foundation course here are Moscow Medical Academy, Russian State Medical University, Volgograd State Medical University dan Nizhny Novgorod State Medical University. They are expected to fly to Russia on the middle or the end of September every year.
