ISS A/S

ISS A/S is a large service company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. While being probably most well known for providing cleaning service, it performs numerous additional tasks, such as catering.

ISS presently employs more than 350,000 people in 46 countries.

History

ISS traces its roots back to Kjøbenhavn-Frederiksberg Nattevagt, a minor Copenhagen night watch company founded in 1901. This was turned into De forenede Vagtselskaber in 1918; in 1934, a cleaning company, Det Danske Rengøringsselskab (DDRS) was spawned from the security company.

Yet another company, International Sanitary Systems (ISS), was established in 1968. This changed its name to International Service System in 1973, simultaneously becoming the parent company for its international acquisitions.
