Iain Cuthbertson

Iain Cuthbertson is a distinguished Scottish character actor born 4 January 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland. At 6' 4" he has a tall and imposing build. He has married twice, to the actress Anne Kristen (deceased) and therafter to Mary Cuthbertson.
His most memorable television role was as the criminal and businessman Charlie Endell in both Budgie with Adam Faith (1970) and its sequel Charles Endell, Esq (1979).
Other roles include the lead in The Borderers (1968), The Stone Tape (1972), Tom Brown's Schooldays (1972) (as Thomas Arnold), Sutherland's Law (1973), and the villainous Scunner Campbell in Supergran (1985). Minor parts in ongoing series include appearances in Z Cars, The Avengers, Inspector Morse, Bulman, Ripping Yarns, The Duchess of Duke Street, Adam Adamant Lives! and Garron in the Doctor Who story The Ribos Operation.
In the cinema, he appeared as the father, Charles Waterbury, in Lionel Jeffries' 1970 film of E. Nesbit's book The Railway Children.
Iain Cuthbertson also has a significant stage career, and he directed at the Royal Court Theatre in 1966.
He also has served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Edinburgh.
