Encyclopedia : I : IB : IBU : Ibuki
Ibuki (いぶき) is a video game character from the Street Fighter fighting game series. She along with Elena were the lone female characters in the Street Fighter III series, until 3rd Strike, where they were joined by Makoto and Chun-Li.
Appearance
She is a ninjitsu fighter from Japan and wears a baggy, khaki ninja suit with a mask over her lower face.
Story
Ibuki was sent by her clan to procure documents from Gill's organization. These documents concerned the "G-File" project, which was responsible for creating Necro and Twelve. Gill voluntarily gave Ibuki the documents, though the project was already under way by that point. In 3rd Strike, Ibuki tracks down Oro to fight him for her ninja graduation exam. She fights well enough to pass, and moves on to go to a university.
Trivia
- Ibuki was originally designed as a male ninja with spectacles.
- For years, there has been speculation that Ibuki is the daughter of Geki (one of the fighters from the original Street Fighter). This has never been confirmed nor denied.
- The other ninja in Ibuki's clan include Sanjou, Enjou, Genda, Raion and Homura Yuuta. Enjou is often mistaken for Geki.
- Ibuki has a pet tanuki named Don.
- She states that she is a shinobi, but in contrast to the stereotype commonly associated with these ninjas, she also shows a "Valley girl"-ish side, stating that she finds her ninja clothes ugly and her daily training strange, and jumping back into her civilian clothing as soon as she wins a bout.
- Ibuki appears as a playable character in Pocket Fighter.
