Ii clan

The Ii clan orginated in the Totomi province, and had direct descent from Fujiwara Yoshikado. Under the cooperation of Shiba Yoshisato, the Ii fought many battles against the Imagawa after the start of the Sengoku period. Even though this was so, the Ii soon became vassals under the Imagawa. Thanks to one of the 4 main generals under Tokugawa Ieyasu, and the most famed member of the Ii family, Ii Naomasa, the Ii became very powerful. The Ii ended up being very politically influential during the end of the Edo period.
