The Ikawa Line of the Oigawa Railway is the only rack-and-pinion railway in Japan. The company runs a 1067 mm (Japanese standard gauge) line and Ikawa line, converted from 762 mm gauge, in Shizuoka Prefecture, central Japan. The Abt system section of 1.5 km with maximum gradient of 9% is on the Igawa Line, re-laid from an adhesion line on 2 October 1990, due to the Nagashima Dam construction.
