Inch High, Private Eye

Encyclopedia : I : IN : INC : Inch High, Private Eye

Inch High, Private Eye was a 1973 Saturday morning cartoon produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions. Somewhat derivative of Hanna-Barbera's popular Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, the titular character of Inch High, Private Eye was a miniature detective (literally one inch high), who enlisted the help of his niece Lori (sometimes written "Laurie"), her muscle-bound friend Gator, and their dog Braveheart to help solve mysteries. The small Inch worked for the Finkerton detective agency, where the boss (Mr. Finkerton) constantly dreamed of the day that he would fire him.

The show was first broadcast on September 8, 1973, and lasted thirteen episodes. It was briefly re-run in the 1990's. Inch High's voice was provided by Lennie Weinrib, who also (before being replaced by Don Messick) provided the voice of Scrappy-Doo in Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo (1979).

Inch High was featured prominently in the Adult Swim series Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law episode "Trio's Company", and can be seen briefly in several other episodes.
