The Inner West Line is a railway line located in the Inner West region of Sydney, Australia.
History
The line originally opened in 1855, as the Sydney to Parramatta rail line. The original four intermediate stations were Newtown, Ashfield, Burwood, and Homebush. The line was soon serviced by ten steam trains per day.The current line runs from City Circle to Central, thence to Strathfield, Lidcombe, Regent's Park, Cabramatta, and Liverpool. Since 2005, the line is serviced on weekdays in peak hours and at night by two full-length services per hour, and none outside of these hours. A limited number of all-stations shuttle services service stations between Central and Ashfield.
The line will be truncated at Homebush once the CityRail Clearways Project is complete.
