The Insitute for Simulation and Training is an internationally recognized research institute that focuses on advancing modeling and simulation technology and increasing our understanding of simulation's role in training and education. It is located at 3100 Technology Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32826
Founded in 1982 as a research unit of the University of Central Florida and reporting directly to the Vice President for Research, the institute provides a wide range of research and information services for the modeling, simulation and training community. Faculty and staff are distributed among IST's three Central Florida Research Park buildings, the Progress building , Partnership II and the Simulation and Training Technology Center.
The Institute also offers masters degrees in:

The five-story Partnership II building is home to IST administrative headquarters and administrative and research staff. Other tenants include the US Marine Corps Program Manager for Training Systems, the Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, and UCF Advanced Distributed Learning and Team Performance laboratories.STTC
The Sergeant First Class Paul Ray Smith Simulation and Training Technology Center houses elements of the US Army's Research, Engineering and Development Command; a UCF incubator company and two IST simulation labs connected with Army research.Degrees
UCF offers interdisciplinary graduate studies in modeling and simulation leading to master's and PhD degrees. The program provides students with a core body of knowledge in the fundamentals of modeling and simulation including discrete and continuous simulation, quantitative aspects of M&S, and human factors.M&S students should have a baccalaureate degree or previous graduate degree in such fields as engineering, psychology, computer science, or mathematics.
Once enrolled, students pick from any one of seven focus areas:
- Quantitative Aspects of Simulation
- Simulation Infrastructure
- Simulation Management
- Computer Visualization in M&S
- Simulation Modeling and Analysis
- Interactive Simulation/Intelligent Systems
- Human Systems in M&S
Students interested in graduate study in simulation at UCF have five programs from which to choose.
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems offers two M.S. tracks (Interactive Simulation & Training Systems and Simulation Modeling & Analysis) and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (where students are able to specialize in simulation).
Interdisciplinary M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Modeling & Simulation are jointly administered by the College of Engineering and Computer Science and by the College of Arts and Sciences.
