The Institute of Policy Studies (abbreviation: IPS; Chinese: 新加坡政策研究院) is a think tank in Singapore. The institute is dedicated to fostering good governance in Singapore through strategic policy research and discussion. It focuses on Singapore's domestic developments and her external relations. It takes a multi-disciplinary approach in its analysis, with an emphasis on long-term strategic thinking. IPS began operations in 1988. The founding director was Chan Heng Chee.
With Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong as its patron, it is chaired by Professor Tommy Koh with a Board of Governors comprising of Peter Ho Hak Ean, Professor Shih Choon Fong, Patrick Daniel, Fang Ai Lian, Hsieh Tsun-Yan, Lee Tzu Yang, Kishore Mahbubani, Dr. Teh Kok Peng, and Professor Wang Gungwu.
The Deputy Director is Arun Mahizhnan, and the research staff comprises of Jeanne Conceicao, Dr. Gillian Koh, Dr. Lai Ah Eng, Tan Tarn How, and Dr. Yap Mui Teng.
