School Profile

Instituto San Roberto is a private school founded on March 8th, 1982 by Mrs. Monica Sada. It is governed by a plural and multidisciplinary board of administration that meets on a regular basis.

The school offers a bilingual education that provides the students with the ability to communicate in both English and Spanish, which gives them a competitive advantage in college and in the future job market.

ISR is also recognized for having a high academic level, a strong values program and a well- defined communication structure. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and belongs to the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and the American Schools Association in Mexico (ASOMEX). The curriculum is English based, however, Spanish is taught on a daily basis in Elementary and Middle School. Students are assessed through the use of standardized testing in both English and Spanish (REALE, ITBS, INTELMETRIX, TOEFL, and SAT) to ensure high academic standards.

The school believes in the importance of giving equal educational opportunities to people from all over the world. However, the highest population remains Mexican.

Prospective students are required to go through the Admissions Department. They take an examination and the department reviews their previous academic records. Some registration procedures need to be completed in order to enroll. Alumni have a priority when enrolling their children or siblings.

In order to service the demand of students in the various areas of the city, Instituto San Roberto operates two campuses: San Agustin Campus and Valle Alto Campus.

Instituto San Roberto’s enrollment is of approximately 2500 students from Pre- Nursery through 9th grade, in both Valle Alto and San Agustin campuses. At present, there are around 1500 students representing 13 nationalities in the San Agustin Campus, and 1000 students representing 4 nationalities in the Valle Alto Campus.

History

Instituto San Roberto is a private school founded on March 8th, 1982 by Mrs. Monica Sada. It was, at first, a school dedicated to the education of preschool kids and its main purpose was to serve the community. ISR started activities on September of 1982, in a rented house in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon.

The name “San Roberto” was chosen in honor of Mr. Roberto G. Sada Jr., one of Monterrey’s most distiguished businessmen and father of our founder. The Preschool level was initiated and thanks to the trust, faith, support and achievements made during the first year of activities, parents asked for the Elementary level to be opened. This level was started with a bilingual system in September of 1983.

Due to the increase in the number of students and the necessity for new facilities, Mrs. Cristina Sada, the founder’s sister, joined the school as an investor. On November of 1984, the new San Agustin Campus was inagurated. All these provided more physical space, classrooms and facilities in order to continue offering the education that has characterized the school since the beginning: a limited number of students per group, co-ed bilingual education, and a Catholic inspired upbringing as part of a well-rounded education.

The Middle School level was initiated in September of 1989 and the Valle Alto Campus opened its doors in September of 1994 to attend the requirements of parents in the southern part of the city.

Both campuses, San Agustin and Valle Alto, obtained initial accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on December of 2002.

Mission

Our mission at Instituto San Roberto is to assist in the full development of our students in an environment that promotes their well being, so they can achieve academic excellence and self-actualization by applying their skills and abilities.
