The Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) (Hebrew: ) is a private college located in Herzliya, Israel which offers courses in both Hebrew and English. Unlike most private colleges in Israel, it is registered as a non-profit organization.
Founded in 1994 by Professor Uriel Reichman, it is Israel’s first unique and innovative private educational institution. Modeled after distinguished private universities in the United States, the IDC seeks to train Israel’s future leaders by nurturing business, political, technological and judicial leadership of the highest caliber. It provides an interdisciplinary education, unique to Israel, which combines academic study with practical training. The Interdisciplinary Center aims to create an environment where personal achievement goes hand-in-hand with social responsibility.
As of 2006, its student population consists of 3,000 undergraduate students, and 4,000 graduate students, currently enrolled at IDC's 5 schools: the Radzyner School of Law, the Arison School of Business, the Lauder School of Diplomacy, Policy and Strategy, the Efi Arazi School of Computer Science, and the Raphael Recanati International School. The Sammy Ofer School of Communications and Information is due to open in October 2006.
IDC’s renowned research centers include the Institute for Policy and Strategy (IPS), which organizes each year the "Herzliya conference", the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT), the Caesarea Edmond Benjamin de Rothschild Center for Capital Markets and Risk Management, the Global Research in International Affairs Center (GLORIA) and the Center for European Studies.
