Interlinear
Encyclopedia : I : IN : INT : Interlinear
The term interlinear, literally "between lines," refers to additional text inserted between the main lines of text in a written work. Interlinear text is usually used to translate or explain the main text. It is used frequently in language learning text books and religious material written in a foreign language. Latin text books and Greek or Hebrew Bibles with interlinears are common examples.
