International school

Encyclopedia : I : IN : INT : International school

International schools are private schools that cater mainly to children who are not nationals of the host country, often the children of the staff of international businesses, international organizations, embassies, missions, or missionary programs. They are also often popular with local students who wish to improve their language skills.

International schools typically use curricula based on those of countries like the United Kingdom or the United States or an international curriculum such as the IB Diploma Programme. Most schools use English as the main language of instruction but schools using French, Russian (Interdom) and other languages exist as well.

The International School of Geneva was the first to be established in 1924.[[Citing sources citation needed]]
