Intibucá is a department in Honduras.
The departmental capital is the town of La Esperanza.
Intibucá department covers a total surface area of 3,072 km² and, in 2001, had a population of about 180,000 people.
Intibucá was formed in 1883; it was formerly part of the departments of La Paz and Gracias. According to the 1895 census, it had a population of 18,957 in that year.
