Irk (Invader Zim location)
Encyclopedia : I : IR : IRK : Irk (Invader Zim location)
Irk is a fictional planet seen in the animated television series, Invader Zim. The inhabitants are called Irkens.
Planet Irk
From what official information provides, Irk is blue in color and has a Saturn-like ring around it. The Irkens, the inhabitants of Irk, are born and raised to conquer and enslave/destroy the species of the universe. Each Irken is kept in suspended animation until they are brought to life by a robot arm. Their PAKs are then attached and they are immediately required to report for duty. The social hierarchy of Irkens is height-based, and the Irken ruler is known as "The Almighty Tallest." There is usually one, but in the series, there are two Tallest, Red and Purple, who share power since they are the exact same height. Irkens are "powered" by pod-like life support systems called Standard-Issue Irken Utility Packs, or PAKs, and if a corrupted data path is present in the PAK's data grid, then an Irken is considered a defective. (Zim is an example of such an Irken, but he does not even notice.) As one could see from the show, the Irken people are considered bloodthirsty tyrants by many of the universe's different species. The Irken people themselves are dominated by their system of laws and customs. As seen in episodes Hobo 13, Battle of the Planets, and The Nightmare Begins, short Irkens are usually the sacrifices made towards the progress of the Irken race. The shortest Irkens are made lowly tables for glasses to be set upon, while the tallest are the leaders of the Irken race. Invader Skoodge is one of the shortest Irkens, and yet he has somehow risen through the ranks to Invader status. However, luck and his society do not favor him. He has been given the worst assignments, supposedly died when the Tallest shot him into space from a cannon, and was sent to Hobo 13 where he almost died from an attack by a large alien beast. (Note: this does not include information from season 2 episodes.) The Irken race is powerful, though, as seen through their many successful conquerings.
