Irmin
Encyclopedia : I : IR : IRM : Irmin
Irmin was the god of war of the Saxons. He is considered the son of Mannus and the ancestor of the Herminones. The name is probably derived from an epitheton "the exalted" of Ziu, the head of the Proto-Germanic pantheon, but with the rising importance of Wotan, Irmin was identified with that god. Irminsuls were pillars or trees dedicated to Irmin.
