Ishikari subprefecture

Ishikari (石狩支庁; -shichō) is a subprefecture of Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, located in the western part of the island. Its population in 2003 was 2,279,943.
There are 6 cities, three towns, and one village under its jurisdiction. The subprefectural capital is Sapporo, also the capital of Hokkaido prefecture. Shikotsu-Toya National Park is located in the southern part, and in the north is Shokanbetsuteuriyagishiri Quasi-National Park.

- On October 1, 2005, the villages of Atsuta from Atsuta District and Hamamasu from Hamamasu District merged into the city of Ishikari, thereby dissolving both districts.

- 1897 Sapporo Subprefecture established
- 1922 Renamed Ishikari Subprefecture
- 1996 Hiroshima Town becomes Kitahiroshima City, dissolving Sapporo District
