Israeli beer is manufactured by largely by two major two brewers in Israel, Tempo Beer Industries Ltd. of Netanya and the newer Israel Beer Breweries (Carlsberg) of Ashqelon, a susidiary of the local Coca-Cola Company. Tempo brews award winning Maccabee, Goldstar and Nesher beers and imports Heineken. Israel Beer Breweries brews Carlsberg, a dry amber Tuborg and a non-alcoholic malt. They also import Guinness and Baltika. In addition, they recently began brewing Layla "dirty blonde" beer, exported only to America. A micro-brewery called [Taybeh] operates a brewery near Ramallah. The brewer, Nadim Khoury, apprenticed at Samuel Adams brewery in Boston.
