Issam Fares

Issam Fares (Arabic: عصام فارس) is a Lebanese politician and international investment businessman.
Fares was a member of the Lebanese Parliament and occupied the post of Deputy Prime Minister until February 28, 2005 when the government of Omar Karami submitted its resignation. He decided not to run for public office in the parliamentary elections of 2005.
He is said to have donated a large piece of land that houses the Byblos campus of the Lebanese American University. The Fares Lecture Series, the Fares Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies, both at Tufts University, and the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut (AUB) are named after him.
He operates the Houston, Texas based WEDGE Group.
