I.Itai (ee-tai) is a biblical name. Itai was one of King David's army Generals. He was not Jewish, but rather a Philistine (plishti - an ancient people that lived in the land of Israel. Not related to modern day "Palestinians") from the city of Gat, next to Ashkelon. Can also be written: Itay, Ytai, Etai, Eatai. In ancient hebrew the name translates as "with me," or "with God," loosely as "friendly."
