Itty bitty machines
Encyclopedia : I : IT : ITT : Itty bitty machines
Itty bitty machines was a small computer company that existed (at least) in 1979 or 1980. They also called themselves "ibm" (note the lower case). They are mentioned in the book Soul of a new machine by Tracy Kidder, in the chapter "Going to the fair".
The standard mythology has it that they were sued out of existence by the larger IBM. Many small companies of that era folded on their own. In fact, IBM might have never even noticed them.
