Ixnay on the Hombre

Encyclopedia : I : IX : IXN : Ixnay on the Hombre

Ixnay on the Hombre is the 4th album by the American punk rock band The Offspring, released on February 4, 1997. It was the first album released by the band on Columbia Records, except in Europe where it was the last one by the band on Epitaph Records. This was due to contract disagreements between the band and the co-founder of Epitaph, Brett Gurewitz. The band was able to release its album on Columbia for the US and other international releases but had to complete the album release in Europe through Epitaph. All subsequent albums were released on Columbia. The album features backing vocals by Davey Havok.

The title is often interpreted as meaning "Down with The Man", as ixnay is Pig Latin for nix, meaning no, and hombre is Spanish for man.
