− Izhar Hunzai is a Pakistani social scientist and currently serves as the General Manager/CEO of the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme(AKRSP), a leading civil society organisation in Pakistan. After the start of his professional career with AKRSP in 1984, he went on to become the Regional Programme Manager in 1994, and became the first CEO of the Aga Khan Culture Services, Pakistan (AKCSP)in 1996. In 1998 he joined the International Water Management Institute (IWMI)in Colombo, and after serving there for five years, he was called back to lead AKRSP in 2003. His academic qualifications include a degree in International Development from Cornell University and a masters degree in International Relations from Karachi University.
Izhar Hunzai was born in Hunza, the Northern Areas of Pakistan. He is the son of Allama Nasir al-Din Nasir Hunzai.His professional qualities are highly valued in the NGO community of Pakistan.
